C1 clutch rod seal at firewall

On a 1959 is this seal and it's retainer installed on the engine side of the firewall or the interior side? In the CC catalogue (p 115 cat D1) it appears to be on the engine side. The AIM (sect 6 sheet 7) mentions the items and part numbers but doesn't show the items, although the direction of the screws would indicate it goes on the interior side. Thanks again. Pat G.

Engine side. There's nothing sealing that firewall hole on the passenger compartment side other than the firewall insulation.

        Larry...

Done a lot of looking, and they are all on the firewall, engine side.
