    62 340 hp oil pan

My 62 340 hp oil pan bottom has been pushed up (by a floor jack?) and then something else made a sharp deep crease at the front edge of the deepest section.

I am considering replacement or an attempt to repair.

First, I have been told I should have a 6 qt. oil pan but in going thru the archives I would disagree.

2nd, can I use any 62 oil pan or the replacement Paragon pan and still be correct?

    thanks

Forgot to mention I did look in the judging guide and it says 5 qt. with 3 steps. There is no reference to any difference due to HP.

Mine does have a 3 step and a trap door

      Chris
You can use an aftermarket oil pan, but it will not be correct. You are right in assuming the 5 quart is correct. These are still available from GM and come with the correct gasket. If you don't have availability to discount e-mail me and I'll help you out.

        Chris-----

See my post above on this subject.

Also, you are correct that there was not used pans of different capacities for 1962. All 1957-62 Corvette oil pans have the same capacity. For 1963, there was a difference in capacity between the 250/300 hp oil pans and 340/360 hp oil pans. That difference DID NOT exist for 1962, though. 1957-1962 Corvette oil pans are completely different than 63+.

The pan currently available from GM is virtually identical to your original. It is a "3 step" and it does have the internal "trap door" baffling. It is GM #359937.

THANKs, love to save money. I will check out the p/n at work tomorrow.

Is there any rule here about asking what a part is worth? In order to fund this vette I have something I would like to sell.thanks
