C2 Parking Brake Lever Assembly

When I pulled the parking brake lever assembly out of my 66, I noticed that a small angle spring and two H shaped metal clips dropped out of the assembly. Neither the AIM or the service manual describe these parts and/or how to reassemble the lever assembly. Can anyone help here?

The 1966 parking brake lever was serviced only as an assembly. So, I'm not surprised that there is no information regarding it in the AIM or factory service manual. With items which GM services only as an assembly, they never provide repair or service information. Sometimes, such assemblies can be repaired using field-developed repair procedures. Perhaps someone on this board will have developed such a procedure and can advise.

Dave, LIC sells a repair kit with the springs and instructions on how to replace the springs and pawls. I think I still have the instructions if you want send me your email address I can scan and send them to you. Mike

Thats the catches for the ratchet on the shaft. It shouldnt be too hard to get it back together.

Gary, an excellent description. It is the same as I remember on an early 63 (109099). It can be done with the assembly still in the car if you have a heat wrap for your back. You'll need it.
