    435 Balancer

While at the dyno shop we noticed the outer ring on the harmonic balancer was moving (much to the shagrin of the guy setting the timing!) I would like to have this rebuilt, but don't want to spend the money if it's not "politically correct". The reference manual says for a 67 435 horse it should be 8" by 1,3/4". What I have matches that description but has "396" stamped on the backside of the outer ring. Part #3870325 with just one mark for TDC. Will this pass judging? Damper Dudes in hemmings advertises 79.00 for rebuild. Anyone have any experience with them?

I just bought a 2 groove balancer outright from Damper Dudes for my '66 6 cyl Mustang in order to install Air Conditioning. I have not sent in the single groove one in for a rebuild yet but it had slipped. The one I purchased had a thin sleeve installed on the shaft in order to repair wear from the oil seal. It appears to be working well and and the sleeve is not visible when installed. Damper Dudes told me that it only took a day or two for turnaround. I can't attest as to whether or not the balancer will stand the test of time.

They rebuilt my 69's 435 hp damper. They had quick turn around time and were Great people to deal with.
