Re: 1962 SEATS
Both red and black were original interior colors for '62s with a Roman red exterior. So one is not more original looking than the other. Maybe you mean the red interior looks better. Then, why do you want to swap?
Does your swap include sun shades, dash pad, carpet, seats, and door panels??? Wow! That's a lot of work! You better like the black a whole lot more than the red.
My car is a '62 with a Roman red exterior and black interior. I like it. Although I don't like it so much when I get in it after it has sat in the sun for more than 15 minutes. I've seen the same car with a red interior. Real sharp. Not sure which one I like the best. But I do know that whatever the difference is, it's not so much that would cause me to redo the dash pad.- Top

Re: 1962 SEATS - One More Thing
Just reread your post. Are you talking about swapping out the whole interior? Or, only the seats?
Black seats in a red interior would stick out. Yeah, that not only wouldn't look original, I don't think it would look good at all.
But, it's your car, ....- Top

Re: 1962 SEATS - One More Thing
I agree with the others.....it's your car but...in my mind there are three theories. 1: Restore your car to NCRS specs. 2:Restore it to matching numbers theory, ie:trim tag, correct engine etc are all correct but with repo parts. 3: restore it to whatever makes you happy, ie:flared wheel openings, after market mag wheels etc. Whatever your choice, drive it and enjoy it. Rick P.S. I have to endorse No.2 but wish I had a saddle interior instead of black in my 67 roadster- Top

Re: 1962 SEATS - One More Thing
Red/Red is the only way to go!!How many Corvette's(any year)have a black interior?.(lots!)R/R is "way" different.I had a Honduras/Fawn 62,and it turned a lot more heads than a Honduras/Black car !!!.Black interiors were the one's I avoided quite honestly(unless it was "triple black").
The "off" combinations is what sells as far as I can tell!.The other color's have to fight the historic popularity of black!!!(yellow/white is heaven on Earth at sunset at Carlisle)...................- Top
