    Rich,

When I rebuilt the motor 3 years ago, I used silicone at the ends of the intake rather than the seals, but it sure will be worth re-inspecting this area.

Patrick, are you talking about the very rear of the oil pan adjacent to the clutch inspection cover? The timing cover seal and balancer seals are other areas in the front of the engine that are known to leak--but you'd see a trail leading back. Your rear main seal is fine if there is no oil inside the inspection cover. You may be weeping some oil at the very rear corner of the pan--where the pan rail gasket meets the rubber seal that is on the top of the rear main.

            Greg,

Yes, it is the very rear of the pan. Now that I have eliminated the other aforementioned leaks, it is the only one that seems active. The leak is NOT from the oil filter or the oil drain plug, but seems to seep down from above. As mentioned, the inside of the inspection cover, as well as the clutch, are dry. I don't see anything any longer on the bellhousing or in that area.

As the motor was repainted 3 years ago and is still very attractive and clean, I hate to even go in there and re-tighten the oil pan bolts, for fear of over-doing it. I also have that mental block that keeps me from marring that great paint, even though no one else ever will see it.... Anyway, I think that is most likely the source of my leak, and I need to get under there with my inch-lb torque wrench and see if that will fix it.
