    '67 LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS INOP

Although they initially worked, the low beam headlights are not coming on with the light switch pulled out(all other functions of the switch work fine; tail, parking, dashboard, dome). All four lights, however, do illuminate with the high beam switch depressed and the switch pulled out. Does this sound like a switch, or wiring problem?

    Rob,

That happened to me and the problem was the high beam switch.

Agree, can't be much of anything else.

        Nick,

The high beam switch does operate correctly, turning all 4 lights on or off when depressed, was that your situation, and how did you remedy it?

Bulbs, dimmer switch, or wires and connectons to the bulbs.

All 4 bulbs go on and off with the high beam switch when the light switch is pulled out. The low beams don't illuminate by themselves with just the light switch on.

Check the tan wire at the dimmer switch - if no power there with the dimmer switch in the low-beam position, it's the dimmer switch. If you have power there, it's somewhere in that tan wire circuit, which goes through the outboard multiple connector on the engine side of the fuse block, and there's another multiple connector just forward of the rad support to the headlight harness.

By the way, I did install a new(repro)engine compartment wire harness, and headlamp extensions. The lights, both low and high beam, did work properly for awhile. The low quit working when I had the car running for the first time and rotated the lights up. I checked and the connections are still tight and the wires don't appear to have been twisted or loosened. I'll try your suggestion regarding the tan wire.

I fixed the low beams, it was in the wiring at the dimmer switch. Unfortunately, however, the low beams burned out during the repair for some reason. Do you know where I can get a set of correct, original T3(without line) low beam bulbs. I did see that John Pirkle advertises them on his web site, and they are on ebay occasionally.

                    Thanks, Rob
