    More 2x4 1959 WCBF Questions

The spring 1984 Restorer article by Gary Hodges states that 58-61 front carb (secondary) didn't have an idle screw but was the boss on the carb still drilled and tapped for one? And one more time for carb tag dating purposes...Were the carbs sent on the complete engine from Flint to St Louis or were they added during car assembly. Bottom line is I've got a March 10 car with an A113CT block and I want to get these right. I would suspect the front and rear carbs could and probably would be dated differently but would they definately have a different line code and assembler or could the tags be exactly the same. I know this is a pretty fussy question but I had to do it. I just called Gary a couple of days ago and hate to bug him again. If Jim Frakes reads this he may know the answer. Thank you once again...

Does your AIM call out the carb as an engine installation part at St. Louis final assy?

        Gary,
: Yes. I really don't when the carbs were assembled on the engine. As for tags, my original '56 2X 4 tags were both dated the same month but had different line numbers and different inspector stamps. Regards,

Jeff, the assembly manual calls out the carbs as assembled at the Car plant. This along with Jim Frakes answer should give you what you need. By the way, it also describes the generator as being assy plant installed, while the dist is shown as part of the engine assy, so that should validate your other assumptions regarding dating.
