New question, sorry to bother you good folks but this car I am looking at was ordered 4-10-67 and built Mid May and verified by the tank sticker. Block is a 3904351 casting with a date casting of 2-5-7, mid number a little hard to read. Does this fall in the realm of build vs production dates?? Block looks like it has been in the car since new. Also tri power has a date of 12/66 on the intake, is this in the realm also?? Do not want to throw good money after bad as I am looking at purchase of this car. Thanks to all on this great board, Larry

Re: Cast date is on right lower side of block
Tom, 3904351, block casting, is on the top side of the block just above the bell housing on the passenger side. The date code/casting is on the bottom side above the pan, by the freeze plug area and reads
2-5-7, which I believe to stand for Feb 5 1967. Car was ordered 4-10-67, verified by tank sticker. Does this block production vs car build fall within acceptable time frames for the building of those cars back then?? Thanks Larry- Top

Re: Block code in 1967 Help.
Larry,
With the limited information you have given, I would say yes, however limited information is the working phrase here.
With no serial number of the 67 and no build date of the engine it would be hard to say with absolute certainty.
Also, not being able to look at the block is a problem.
Again, with the limited information the block appears to be cast in the approximate time range.
If you have any worries you should hire a knowledgeable person to access the block and intake. Good luck at finding a knowledgeable person that will stick their neck out.

It is a B-5-7 on the date casting.
I know what I mean but my fingers kept going to the 2. It is B-5-7 NOT 2-5-7. I knew this all along but my mind kept telling me to type 2 instead of the B proceessing the B into the number 2 thinking that stood for the second month,ie Feburary, then posting it here. Sorry. Any better input now. Thanks Larry- Top

Re: Cast date is on right lower side of block
larry: if the casting # is on the passenger side as your post states, ya better run as fast as ya can from this 67. cast # is on drivers side and it reads outboard to inboard, not vice versa as some of the pass car big block casting #s ran. mike- Top

tough day typing for me!!! Time frames??
Mike, Once again I have typed what I wanted not what I knew, saw or meant. I always have invert numbers and words. Casting numbers are on the driver side and does read as it should. Thanks for the input and correction. Now that all that is cleared up what do you guys think about the time frames in my above posting's, my original concern. Thanks for the help and correction, Larry- Top
