Metal on door panels for '61

Could anyone give advice on the proper finish for the metal on the door panels of a 61? The panels are in decent shape with very few scratches. There is the normal "wear, light scuffing" around the door opening handle. Would metal polish make the panels too bright? A certain scotch brite pad? Any other suggestions? Thanks

The aluminum is so soft that any attempt to remove scratches will probably be more costly on the judging field than would letting them be. otherwise, get new panels from al knoch. mike

Kevin; If your door panels are not in to bad of shape i would recomend leaving them alone, the ones that All Knoch has are very shinny, I just had a big problem with his metal because of the cond. The orig metal is plated some how,(sort of like whats on the sill plates) and this step is not done with the reproductions, Romeo enginering reproduces the metal, and i am told All uses it, and i have ordered new panels from Romeo since i was not very happy with All"s. Unless your interior is all new, the new metal will stand out like a black eye, or two black eyes.
