ALL date codes for a 1967 BB Help in BUYING!!

Ok Guys just got back from three long hours of crawling under and around a 1967 BB ragtop 400 HP car with AC, that I have been asking a bunch of questions about all week on this board. Here are the numbers YOU tell me if I should buy it at 49,000.00 private owner.

Block 3904351 2 bolt date B-5-7 correct pad numbers with JF for the engine code

Heads 3909802 date B-8-7 (only checked one) AC in the way on the other.

Manifolds last 4 numbers 0827 LH and 0828 RH NO smog pump or parts on it!!

    Intake 3894382 with correct carbs

Tranny stamped with the serial number and 3885101 and 30888336 on passenger side on car

    Bellhousing 3899621 IS THIS CORRECT???

Did not check rear end could not remember with the casting or ID numbers are located Rear end did have D-13-6 stamped into the rear area that you could see from sliding under the rear of the car and 3871875 stamped there also. Do those sound correct??

I think all these numbers I wrote down correct but may have added one or missed one on the tranny ect. Hard to get them all right with a floor jack and COLD concrete.

Car was ordered on 4-10-67, built in 5-12-67, according to the TANK STICKER!! Do these numbers sound correct and fall into line for this car?? Thanks for the time and help from this board and all the GREAT GUYS AND GALS. Larry

Are you asking somebody to guess whether this is a 'real' car and a bargain at 49K, or a made-up yesterday car that started life as a base engine powerglide?

Why not have somebody experienced have a look on your behalf. Better before than after you buy.........

No Mike pretty sure it is a real car with the tank sticker, just want to make sure you veterans think codes and date times are correct and have not been replaced over time. Thanks Larry

In addition to Brian's caution, you would also be wise to verify the tank sticker is in fact original to the car in question.

At 49K, a real 400HP air convertible would be a bargin. At that price a few dates hardly seem important

I have seen some pretty decent tank sticker repros over the years. If you know the differences it is not hard to spot. Cavat Emptor

The difference being what?? The little perverations at the top and botom where it tears like toilet paper, the wad of old glue on the back, size, ect. Anything else I might be missing?? Thanks Larry

Larry, the best way to see the differences is to lay a know original beside the one in question. You can see the differences upon close inspection. One version of the repro lacks the little nibs of paper along the sides. The originals of that era were printed on tractor drawn printer paper. The perforated edges were then torn off.

Yes Dick I do have those little nibs top and bottom and they are now dark with discolor. I am 100 percent sure it is the real deal. Thanks Larry
