A lot depends on your end-game objective. If you want to have the car judged and score max points, then you'll need a reproduction AC-Delco tar top battery. But, these are made VERY similar to originals suffering all the associated problems with battery technology of the era (need to unscrew caps and check/maintain electrolyte levels, pretty low energy storage density compared to today's battery technology, limited cranking amp profile, Etc.).
If your car is a 'weekend warrior' that gets driven for fun and might be judged here/there but not on an aggressive quest for top factory concours awards, you can't do much better than a current AC Delco service replacement battery. You'll get 'partial' credit on the judging field, the battery will give you the benefits of today's battery technology and you can expect it to last a LOT longer, for less initial cost, then a repro tar top.
Last, if the objective is a classic driver car that winds up now/then in a 'show n shine' display (not a serious factory concours judging ordeal), then there's another alternative. You'll find an injection molded, snap-on, cover for the top of generic modern batteries that visually mimics the appearance of the original tar top. Don't expect to fool any serious judges with this, but for the show 'n shine circuit, it does what it's intended to do--kinda/sorta look like the factory original battery.
