C1 59: Firewall install

Hi,

I've installed the right and middle piece of the firewall in my car. For the left piece it looks a bit more difficult since the clutch, brake and steering colomn is passing through this piece. Is this indeed difficult or is there a quick solution to install this part ?

You will have to disconnect and remove the clutch pedal push rod and accelerator pedal. Not a difficult job. Not sure about the brake pedal rod to the master cylinder. You've got the wiring harness down there too, but I believe you're replacing that. Not sure about the heater/defroster box.

Also not sure, but wouldn't care, about the steering column. It is a great deal of work to remove the steering column. Even if you are supposed to remove the steering column, I recommend that you slit the insulation, and slip it around the column.

To remove the column, remove the steering wheel, the wires in the column, the attaching pieces to the dash, the LH exhaust manifold, the pitman arm, and the hood. And after all that, you'll still scratch the paint on the car.
