    Quanta's Asphalt Based Frame Paint

I'm restoring a 1966 Roadster to NCRS specs and my repairs and prep work for the bare frame are now finished. This past weekend, I painted the frame with Quanta's Q-Coat Asphalt Based Frame Paint over fresh (Eastwood) Chassis Black.

I'm happy with the smooth texture and coverage I got, but was surprised at how glossy the finish of the asphalt based paint turned out. I would call it a full gloss but was expecting more of a semi-gloss or even a semi-flat level. It has dried for 2 days now and I have not moved the frame out into the sun yet.

Does anyone else have experience with the product and the correctness of the gloss level of the asphalt based paint? Thanks.

Tim; I put that on my 62 10 years ago. From age it has dulled down. Plus I have wiped the under side of the car many times. Do not try to wipe any spill's up with lag thinner or any kind of reducer, or such product's, it will smear very easy. john

My questions on the gloss level of Quanta's asphalt based frame paint were answered on the Product Information Sheet Quanta happily faxed when I ga

      ve them a call.

When thinned 30% with lacquer thinner, flattened 20% with PPG flattening agent, and sprayed at 30 psi using an old fashioned, conventional gun, I got great results and am happy with the semi-gloss level.

      Let the reassembly begin!
