In restoring the ignition shielding on my 67 327/350, the plug shield brackets (all 8) were a bit rusty, but cleaned up pretty well. Is there a color they could/should be painted to preserve them in the future? Or should I leave them to rust again? I don't remember them as showing much before, but I want them to be right. Scott

Re: 67 Plug Shield Bracket Color?
Your choice of Cad, (very Likely) Zinc (possible) or Tin platings, all are to some degree a bright, silvery finish. In the Mid-60's Cadmium was commonly used. Not generally used today due to health hazards in Plating Processes.- Top

Re: 67 Plug Shield Bracket Color?
Hi Mr. Landis!
The plug shield supports (that bolt to the exhaust manifold) will rust again if you use the car, regardless of what you paint/plate with. As shall the bolts/washers; I used to paint mine with a VHT high-temp clear coating - which seemed to postpone the inevitable slightly - but left a different texture & slightly to shiny finish. If you are planning on showing the car, you shall probably need to replate (I seem to remember some little detail - a stmaping? - on the reproductions that is not the same as factory). If not showing, Paragon used to manufacture these brackets in stainless steel specifically to combat this problem.
