63 Date - Shim Marks / Crayons ?

I got a set of Crayons from Long Island Corvette to put the date and shim marks on my 63. I know the shim marks are white but wanted to confirm the date is red.

Also, I did some tests with the crayons on some scrap. It looks terrible. It clumps and doesn't always write in completely.

Is there a better method for this?

Joe,
I don't know what you got in the kit. But the original marking was a lumber crayon. My 67 was white. I have to check but I think my 65 was white too.
If you want to get a "Pretty Look" use white ink. It looks the same when dry without the glumps. Apply it with a tiny thin brush.

The "paint sticks" from Quanta are excellent, and come in many colors.
