I pulled my steering box apart to replace the weeping grease seals and inspect the internals for the usual culprits, rust, wear, grease condition etc.
Everything was in great shape with no significant wear noticed.
First, when the worm and sector shaft assemblys are pre-loaded ( 9-10 inch lbs.) is this loading performed with or without the grease installed?
I'm assuming that the grease will add some resistance.
Second, is there a better way out there to fill the box with grease other than in one bolt hole and out the other as described in my repair manual?
Appreciate the help,
Chuck
