Hi everyone, I am looking at purchasing a "correctly dated" t-10 for my March 10, 1959 build date, car. The transmission I am considering has a main case casting date of Sept. 1958. But it has a stamped assembly date of Feb. 6th 1959. Would this be NCRS correct or not? thanks scott #40610

Re: C-1 T-10
Scott-----
Although it's close, I'd say that it would be correct. The casting date falls within the "6 month rule". It's unusual for a transmission case to be used in an assembly manufactured 5 months after it's cast, but I suppose that it could happen, especially for a T-10. The February 6, 1959 assembly date is just about the time that I would expect that a transmission for your March 10, 1959 built car would have, normally, been assembled. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Cast Iron Main case?? What are the
The main case is cast iron and the tail extension is aluminum with Dec. 58. It is the 3 boss shifter type and 1 transmission boss, which also is correct. I thought the tail piece would be ok, but because I thought there was a 6 month rule in there somewhere the case was my only qustion. I was wondering if it was possible for borg warner to cast them and let them set on a shelf a while before assembling? thanks scott #40610- Top

Assembly dates are EVERYTHING if the rest
of the components line up - these pieces were NOT necessarily used on a first in-first out basis. Buy the tranny and rest assured that it could have come in your car - I know of a Nov 57 1958 owner with a June 57 trans - told him he could go done another path and sell the 57 Trans - he declined as he knew it was the one that came with the car.- Top
