Just installed a new Luk diaphragm clutch in my '62. Don't wish to use the stock clutch over-center return spring - the Godzilla spring. Don't want or need the help it provides when depressing the pedal. But I do need some kind of a spring to hold the pedal up and keep the weight of the clutch linkage from resting on the throwout bearing. Trying to fabricate some solution to this.
Got an idea from a picture John Hinckley posted some time ago to fabricate a bracket that replaces the stock return spring bracket on the cross-shaft ("Z" bar). The bracket he made is at a different angle than the stock bracket, and it eliminates the over-center action. Of course I forgot all about this when I installed the clutch, and now it's all in.
Anybody have a stock bracket or cross-shaft handy who can measure the distance between the 2 mounting holes?
