C-3 Exhaust tip and Master Cylinder Questions

I have '72 Conv. When I purchased it I did the standard part number checks. The master cylinder (MC) checked correct for PN 5455509. I did not check the broadcast code at that time. I am about to rebuild the brake system. I have found that the broadcast code on the MC is ZC not DC. The JM indicates that this is correct for '72 calendar year cars. My car build date is Sept '71. Could this be correct? I believe that the MC is original to the car. Additionally, what is the current wisdom on sleeving MCs? I have 2 options stainless steel and bronze. SS costs about $225 and bronze is $150. Is there a good reason to go SS.

I have studied AIM and cannot find a spec for the distance the exhasut tips should protrude beyond the bezel. I have found the centering spec. How far should they be beyond the end of the exhaust bezel?

$225 is way high for SS sleeving. I had my 509-DC master brass-sleeved and rebuilt (it was just a core - no guts) by White Post for about $150, had it back in 3 days.

      Bill/John,
I just had my 509-DC master cylinder brass sleeved by Apple Hydraulics and it was $75 plus postage. You can buy a rebuilding kit for around $20-$25 and install it yourself in about 15 minutes if you are so inclined. That will save you about $50. Apple Hydraulics is somewhat slower than others. It took about 2 weeks.

        Bill,

the exhaust tips should extend about 1 inch past the upper edge of the bezel.
