    69 350/350 carburator

I have a 69 350/350 that should have a q-jet #7029207 carburator on it. It has a holley on it now . I know this is not correct. Should I be shopping for a correct # and date code carb?It is important? I want to get the car as correct as possible, how about the alternator it does not match either. The distributor, the engine and transmission all match.

    thanks for any help

If you are not going to have your 69 judged, you can keep the Holley. The q-jet may be a good carb, but I removed my original q-jets from my 68 and 70 back in the early 70's. Reason was because q-jets leaked fue out of the fuel bowl into the engine. I have double pumper 650 Holley's and still like them even if they do have power valves that go bad. I really like it when you can manually control the application of the rear barrels.

      Tom:
The 7029207 carburetor should not be that difficult to find since this carburetor was used not only on Corvettes but on other GM cars as well. In addition, it was the number used for service replacement for all (or most) of the 350 engines using the Rochester carb. Of course if you want a particular date that makes it more difficult. The alternator, on the other hand, is a different story. If your car doesn't have AC you want a #1100859. If you have AC you want #1100825. Both of these are almost impossible to find since they were used only on '69 Corvettes. If you do find one be prepared for sticker shock. Hope this helps.
