I have a 77 and want to put a dual exhast from headers. I am new to this and want to do it myself. I can see that there is a hole in the frame to accept the dual system. Do i just have to get dual system crom a 74 vet and somehow mount them to the headers. I live near Totonto Canada to get the parts from, I also want to eliminate the cat converter. Any suggestions on the parts and tips on the work ahead. Thanks

Re: 77 Headers & Exhaust
Hi Frank,
Before you march down the performance exhaust road and spend gobs of cash, (if you don't already know) casually check out the Canadian emmisions laws to see just how rigid they are.
If they are stringent on passing emmisions for inspections, then your idea of losing the cat. is shot out of the gates.
With that said, IF you can get away with departing from your original setup, then most shark car exhaust systems will probably get you where you want to be with the exception of the intermediate pipes that will make up to the header collectors. Those will probably need to be custom bent at a muffler shop.
When I put custon side pipes on my 69 back in the late seventies, I bought some cheap spiral flex pipe and cobbed it up to get me from my garage to the muffler shop without getting into trouble with the law Then they did their magic and bent perminent pipes to fit.
Just watch out for what size exhaust syatem your rig will demand for big vs small block 2" or 2-1/2"
Everything from the the rear bumper to the cross member should be pretty standard for mufflers, hangers, etc. and you should be able to hang it all by yourself. Just make sure that you have the car properly supported before you go crawling around under it Ok?
Good luck and be careful.
