Testing Fuel Sending Unit Outside of Tank

Is there some easy way (volt/ohm meter) to test the sending unit before putting it into my new tank. I've cleaned up the original one fom my 63 and putting it back in the tank but want to be sure it's working correctly beforehand.

(Note: The fuel gage was missing the needle when I tore the car apart. I know it worked, but not how accurate. The gauges are also being redone but won't be ready until later).

Pretty easy actually. There are three connections, one is a ground, one where the pink wire connects, and the third where the tan wire goes. Measure from the pink connection to ground. Should be about 90 ohm. Now measure from the tan to each of the other poles. It should vary from 0-90 ohms as you move the float.
