4 speed info/ paint in wheel wells

I have the # off my trans can someone tell me which one I have? the #s are as follows 946798 then 3925660 and p9126b plus it has 19s715223 which is part of my serial #. The other thing I am curious about is the paint in the wheel wells. It sort of looks like undercoat but doesn't seem to be as thick? What should it be? It kind of bubbles up like undercoat.

    Thanks for the help.

Muncie M21 close ratio trans dated P9126B - the "1" is likely a "T" making the date code Dec. 26 1968. There is undercoating in the wheel wells but the factory did a very quick job with light coverage at best.
    Hope this helps,
    Mark

I am curious as to what should be done with the wheel wells, should I re undercoat them or paint or what? They don't look to bad but need freshening up.pleas advise. Also what black should be on the frame? semi gloss or gloss ?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

        Tom-----

You can paint over the undercoat on the wheel wells with chassis blackout paint. This is pretty much what was done originally, anyway. The texture of the undercoat will "show through" the paint. The undercoat was usually only applied to the rear of the wheel well area and it was quite thin; nothing like aftermarket-applied undercoatings from "Rusty Jones", etc.

The frame was coated with an asphaltic-type coating and was not actually painted. However, using a semi-gloss black paint recreates just about the same look and is a lot more durable than the original coating.
