    1973 Build Sheet Codes/Order Number

What are the charges for in block 123?
Block 122 is for the Destination Charges.
The shipping charge to Oregon is not that much more than the New York. I am wondering if block 123 is an adder/deduct to the destination charges.

Also, do all the order numbers, as on the window stickers and build sheets, for Corvettes begin with the letter Y?
I have seen three window stickers from three different dealers in three different parts of the USA and all the order numbers start with a Y.

Re: 1973 Build Sheet Codes/Order Number

    Roger:

    I've got a couple of matched sets (tank sticker & window sticker)I'm using as reference...a 75, 78, and 81.

As a frame of reference, 1973 is the first year the landscape style tank sticker was used...before 73, the build sheets & tank stickers were the portrait style. So your 73 is a broadcast code style versus an early tank sticker broadcasting ECL codes.

While the 75 build sheet does not show the destination charge (Box 122)on the window sticker...the 78 does and shows that the $346 charge is included on the window sticker charged back to the consumer. So the charges in block 123...must be a non-customer charge. This may be a dealer charge...it's a good question and one I've not seen raised before.

The order number question regarding "Y" while Y is the body reference, are you referring to Box 1 and the Job Sequence Number? My Box 1's shows C's. Order numbers typically were not included on the window sticker so I'm not sure what you are seeing there.

Also as I understand dealer order numbers...dealers had a stack of order forms all sequentially numbered none of which were specified for Impalas, trucks, vegas or Corvettes. They were just order forms. The number got transfered with the order to the factory where the plant assigned the plant identification number. While the dealer order number accompanied the production sheets...it wasn't used...the plant Ident Number was used for scheduling and production. Nothing was special about a Corvette at this point except the model number on the order form and in 73 that model number was 1YZ37 or 1YZ67 with "Y" being the reference for the Corvette Y body platform.

    Hope this helps.

The order number is shown in box 111, next to the dealer's name. The number is three letters and three numbers. It also apears on the window sticker in the top portion just to the right of the dealer's name.

Ok...I see what you're referencing. I've got two 78's but they differ. one has an MFJ while the other (my 78) starts with 167 (167579). A 75 shows EJF in both box 111 and window sticker and an 81 shows 45E.
