    1967 distributor color? Vin #?

I was restoring my distributor and was curious as to the correct color? I can see traces of cast grey and some black. The middle of the shaft has the numbers 140 and in the top it has 81. The car is a 67 with a base 300hp motor. The vaccuum advance has the numbers (ms) near the forward most screw and then 355 to the left and 15 on the right. Is this supposed to be a silver cad? The vin # for my 67 coupe ends s106252. Is this a Nov. or Dec. car? The J.P. Stevens tag under the stow says 8/15/66. The ink stamp in the spare tire tub says Dec 13 1966. Thank you much for the help! It's all Greek to me, I've been Blue Oval all my life. After my last Rustang, that makes seven, I couldn't help but to cross enemy lines for those mid-year beauties. What an eye-opener, it's so pleasant to work on something that was actually designed well. No more bloody knuckles, wrench-throwing, and obsenities.

    Justin -

Welcome to the Corvette world The distributor was originally painted semi-gloss black, and the vacuum advance unit was silver cad/zinc-plated; it also had an embossed aluminum Delco-Remy band on it with the 1111194 part number and a date code. Your car was produced on December 19, 1966, give or take a day or two.

Also might note that the 355 vacuum can is the proper unit for the '194 distributor. The 15 is degrees of advance at full vacuum.
