    C1 horn problem

    Hi,

My passenger side horn only says 'click' but no honk! Is it possible to repair these things easely ? I want to get it out of the car but the nut underneath the fiber is loose so I'm currently puzzling how to get it out without serious damage to the car.

PS I just remove 10 kg of grease out of my driver side door lock mechanism, sprayed it with teflon spray, it really runs smooth now. Next weekend I might do the other door too!

    greetings,
    Rob.

Rob, Suggest you contact Ron Goralski email byegonevette@aol.com on your horn issue. He restores horns and held a great seminar on this subject at our chapter meet last year.

I second the Ron Goralski recommendation. Regarding removing the horn; it is on the lower side of the inner panel--there is a weld-nut on a plate on the upper side of that panel. The rivets almost always are gone, and allow the plate to pivot. You have to get a wrench (I use a crescent, because the nut is square) to hold the nut on the plate, and then back off the bolt. Because I'm 6'3" I can just reach both--anyone shorter will either need help, or will need to put a channelock pliars on the nut and find a place to wedge it so you can concentrate on the bolt. The bolt was not hardened, so they often break off. Good luck!
