    Corvettes at Astroworld?

I know this probably isn't the proper place for this since it's not a technical question, but I don't know any place else where the members would know more about this than you guys.

I remember when I was a kid going to Astroworld in Houston for the first time, in the mid '60s. Chevy sponsored a show that was a promotional video of two C2 Vette coups, one red and one blue, chasing each other nose to tail through some very twisty mountain roads. It was on a large semicirdular screen, so it was life sized and looked surprisingly real. So real that the audience would actually lean when the cars went around corners.

And this was a harbinger of things to come, as my first ever ride in a Vette was my older brother's 11.82 in the quarter, 12.5:1 compressioned, daily driver '66 Stingray (back when you could get 101 at the pump). And of course the impression it left on me went way beyond that, as we're now in our sixth Vette at the Allen household.

Anyone else ever seen or heard of this video? I'd sure like to get a copy of it. My train of thought is that it was Chevy's property, so if any of you guys has a contact at Chevy who might be able to help me with this, I'd appreciate it if you could shoot me their contact info.

    Cheers!

    Wendell,

Never been to Astroworld and know nothing about it, but it is good to see you back! Haven't seen your name in a couple of years.

    Hope all is well,

Thanks Patrick. It's good to be back. We finally recovered from my almost two year period of temp/contract jobs after I got on with National Oilwell last April. Since then we've managed to stumble on a good deal on a '77, so we're back again.

And, as an update, a lady with the National Corvette Museum is inquiring with Chevrolet to see if they know anything about the video. They'd like to get their hands on it for use at the museum. I'll keep you posted when we run all the leads down.
