Is there any good way to deteremine if a distributor has the "orginal" band Vs one that has just been produced? Can you check the band "date" Vs some other part of the distrib. that also has a date code?

Don't know about the repop's, but "New-Over the-Counter" C2 distrib 1111069, ordered from the dealer in 1980, has a tag (0 D 23 -- could be April '70) that is appreciably THINNER than the originals I have from the 1968-74 era. It's still colored the "pinkish-red" on one of the surfaces.

I wouldn think a reproduction seller would at least get the thickness correct.

the original 1960's style distributors did not have a hole drilled into the back side of the housing where the tach drive gear goes. There are date codes on every casting but are not visible when installed on the car.
