Re: c/3 clock
Ed,
I ran into this problem about seven years ago and here is how I fixed mine:
After removing the clock from the car, I took a small fine file and filed the area flat. I visited my Ace hardware store and bought a 3/4 x 72 screw and a matching tap. I also got the correct drill bit as well. I then put the clock in a vice with wood around the shaft. I put a dimple in the center of the shaft as a drill point start. I then drilled and tapped the hole. I then screwed the bolt in and then backed it out to see how well it fit. Now you can now do two things here.
1. You can cut the head off the bolt after you marked it, insert it in the holeand then serew the knob on.
2. You can screw it on to the knob, the screw it into the shaft.
If you use a little loc-out to secure the screw to the shaft. this can all be done after you reinstall it in the car. I called up the clock repair people and no one will sell me the part. You have to buy a clock to get one. Mine is still working like new.
Oh, you should buy a few 1 x 72 nuts to clean up the threads after you cut the head odd with a dremel or a hack saw. Take your knob to the store with you to make sure I gave you the riht thread size.
Good luck, Chasman- Top
