Louver inserts

Looking at the inserts on my 69 it appears to have whats left of a chrome finish.Was there any finish on the inserts or just polished metal?

Except for the leading edge of the inserts, they were painted argent silver. Rallye wheel paint without the green tint which is available from several sources is a very good match for these. Hope this helps.
