    Steve,

Look in the archives. I believe the finish on these parts were discussed several months ago.

    Good luck, Tony

        Steve---

I agree with Tony; this information should be found in the archives. However, I will comment on just the half-shaft finish. Half shafts were originally natural, extruded steel tubing and the ends were natural, forged steel with a "shot-peened" finish. Both of these finishes rust rather quickly in service. Natural, extruded steel tubing is among the most difficult of finishes to correctly restore to "as new" condition. Many restorers resort to "re-tubing" the half shafts with new tubing, installed by a driveshaft repair shop. Of course, if left in the natural, original condition, rust WILL begin reforming almost immediately.

            Steve,

You may wish to try some CRC SP350 oil spray on these and other chassis parts. I got this tip from John Woods at the Boston regional. Supposedly, this oil really hangs on to parts well and helps bring out the original look without disassebly of parts. Just spray on and wipe (after allowing to soak for a day or so) then repeat. I'm going to try this product out as soon as I find a source that carries this stuff.

Any help on who carries this product at the best price?
