    C 1 Drag Link trivia

Again if your assembling a parts car or needing steering parts you should know what your getting or have. Many know the difference between PITMAN arms 52-55 and 56-62, but not the drag links ( see pic right side is 53 to 55 longer the the 56 to 62 drag link). Then I often see the drag link installed backwards causing interference with the radiator lower shielding (long end connects to the pitman arm).
I just drove a friends vett and it wondered left and right with to much play in the steering wheel so when we got back to his home I checked the drag link and it was worn . I adjust the ends till all play is gone , then turn it 1/2 more and add the cotter pin. Hope this may keep some one from buying the wrong parts.

Re: C 1 Drag Link trivia Arm assy

I dint wrote about the arm assembly yet, that is the arm with the bearing is in . You should see a forged casting number in it.
    1.#3706023 is for 53 to55
2.#3733438 is for mid-56 to 57 ( early 56 may have no number)
    3.#3731801 is for 58 to 62
Because of the two brackets I wrote about are different angles that would change the whole angle of the tie rods and steering idler arm. So this would mean that the bracket and arms are matched.
I should have included this because people do take things apart.
