I'm not sure that I know what you're referring to. If you're talking about a "Service Parts Identification Label" (the paper label found on later cars which identifies all of the regular production options and other originally installed standard equipment to aid SERVICE parts procurement), that label was not used on 1972 model cars. It didn't come along until quite a bit later.
If you're talking about the "build sheet" which identifies options originally installed on the car, that can be found on the upper right side surface of the fuel tank (requires fuel tank removal for inspection and retrieval). Sometimes, a copy of this document may be found tucked up under the dash in some location.
There is no other "RPO tag" to be found on a 1972.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: rpo for 1972
There is no tag listing installed options on 72s.
There is a trim tag or plate riveted to the driver side front door jamb (hinge pillar). This plate, unpainted stainless steel, is attached with aluminum pop rivets, and has the interior trim code, exterior paint code, the coded date the body started down the assembly line, as well as the certification statement that the vehicle meets government requirements.- Top
