The 1966 Judging Guide states that the D/N mirror has a grey lever on the bottom. I bought a reconditioned mirror that has a black rectangular knob rather than the gray lever. My mirror source states that the earlier 66 D/N mirrors had this black knob, not the mentioned gray lever, and that the JG is incorrect. Previous discussion lines in the NCRS archives also mention this 1/2 inch black rectangular knob. There seems to be conflicting guidance as to what is correct. Can someone shed some light for me? Thanks so much.

Re: 1966 Day Night mirror
Tom,
If the new judging manual states that it is a black lever, it needs to be updated. Your original information is correct. The original 65-66 day night mirror delivered by Chevrolet has a BLACK RECTANGULAR KNOB that when turned 90 degrees darkens the mirror.
Also, the mirror is stainless backed and has the words GUIDE GLARE PROOF on the top and MADE IN USA on the bottom.
The lever started in 1967 and is GRAY in color.
