    C1 Dash End Caps

I'm doing a total interior restore on my April 28 build '59. What end caps should the dash have? Stainless steel or the painted (fuller) end caps? My car appears to be a (early) '59, as I have the smaller auxilary door weather stips (like a 58) and I have staggered holes on the heads. I'm assuming the end caps should be stainless? The guy before me removed them.
Which direction do the threads go to remove the clock adjusting knob so I can restore the clock? Clockwise, or counter clockwise?
Also, what color should the lettering be on the insert for the air controls? It appears that it should be red? Thanks

I suspect your car probably had the small end caps, but you need to check with one of the "numbers" guys to know for sure.

The clock knob unscrews counterclockwise. Use some needle nose pliars to hold the stem while you turn it. Yopu will probably have to pull the stem out a little to get the needle nose in. You may need a second pair of pliars and something to protect teh knob to break the knob loose.

So far as I know, the letters on the heater control plate are black on all 58-62 cars.

      Kevin,

Even on my (little damaged) Aug. '59-er the end caps are stainless. I don't know about the clock but the color of the lettering is indeed black (although interior colour (Turqouise in my case) would be cool as well).

      greetings,
      Rob.
