    Cast Iron thermostat housing '56&'57

I have found two cast iron thermostat housings #3706018 used on '56 and early '57 dual quads that have an additional number markings on them. One of them has a 3 and the other a 14 cast into the side. Anyone know what these additional numbers mean? Thanks.

It's a casting number - one came out of mould 1 were 14 came out of mould 14, you see this on other castings G.M 1 -5-6 or 13. It only tells which mould it came out of. So if a part having G.M 26 was defected , the factory would know which mould to destroy which would be "26",
