Waterpump

I am restoring an early 63 (Dec 62) SWC, fuelie. The motor came with a waterpump #3859326, which needs to be replaced (cracked casting). As per assy manual, the early cars came with a waterpump #3852609. Which one is correct, or could I use either ? I am planning to have the car judged.

Pump #3782609 was used on 63 340 and 360 HP Corvette engines. 3782608 was used on 63 Corvette 250 and 300 HP. Your #3859326 is still being researched according to my book Corvette By The Numbers. Note:Flint Engine Plant build records show 3782609 in production in 1/4/63.Also from the same book. Good Luck! Dick

Rainer, I would install the #609 water pump most to all early 63 HP cars used this one, also go by what is in the Judging Manual.

You are correct, Mike. Based on the response of this post,and the Judging Manual, it looks like the 609 waterpump was used on earlier engines till early 1963, then the later version 326 were used. I will use the 609.
