    Where's my Driveline?

My dues have been paid. I'm not behind in my dues. Why did I not receive a Driveline in February? I realize that North Idaho is a ways away from the mainstream, but I've got a ZIP code. What's up with this?

Sounds like that SnailMail has struck again. Seriously, I would contact Gary or Eric in Cincinatti and have them send you another. This is an issue that was discussed at length when I was on the Board, and I understand that it gets a lot of time at Board meetings today. There is no simple answer.

      Re: Where's my Driveline?

"Where is my Driveline" posts are as predictable as the seasons. Resign yourself to the fact that it will come late and that anything of value in the advertisements will already be gone. You will sleep better.

Between the manner in which many of the advertisements are organized and the timeliness (or lack thereof), I find the Driveline to be of very little use for buying items.

It has to be cheaper over the lonegr term to have this stuff on line in an easy to search format. Heck, even if it coast more, I would be for doubling the dues if this type of service could be delivered. I think it would attract more members as well.

        On-line Driveline

Mike, I'm sure you will sleep better yourself if you stop hoping for an on-line version of the Driveline. It will not happen in your lifetime, even if you are our youngest member (are you under 50?).

As I understand it, here are the reasons:

        1. NCRS members, by and large, are computer illerate and resent the handful of young whippersnappers who frequent this Board.

        2. The Driveline is not about helping members sell their parts to the general public who could read an on-line version.

        3. There is something grossly unfair to some members about changing the way Driveline ads are published, and the vast majority of members will not tolerate any changes in their lives.

        4. Most members would rise up from their walkers in open rebellion if the dues went up one cent, regardless of the reason. Remember, many members are retired and can barely afford to have several $30,000 toys at home.

        5. Criticism of the NCRS or any of its policies, especially in an attempt to be funny, will not be tolerated. This means that the very suggestion that anything could be better will ensure that it will never be seriously considered.

          Correction

By "illerate", I mean illiterate. Illerate is what I are.

            Jerry:

I laughed out loud from your post. Thanks for the reality check. I guess I made the assumption that most would be for this since even my 70 year old mom, who would never touch a computer, uses email and ebay.

This whippersnapper (I'm under five-oh but not very far under) is looking forward to a good night's rest tonight.
