68 door window channel grease

Gents,

I'm restoring the window crank mechanism in my 68. What type of grease should I use in the window channels? I want something that will provide a nice smooth action in the summer as well as the winter.

Corey, I suspect the factory probably used "Lubriplate" white grease, but by the time I took my doors aprart, the grease in the window mechanism was black with dirt and wear particles.

Unless you live in Alaska, winding resistance shouldn't be appreciably greater regardless of the grease type. I am not a big fan of "Lubriplate", because I have seen too much of it dry out into chunks. It's when the grease dries up that you definitely feel increased winding resistance. I will probably use a good quality molybdenum (?) disulfide chassis grease when I put my doors back together.

Thanks for the response Chuck. I actually found some stuff that I like
at Lowes today. It's got molybdenum in it and it's nice and light. I also
looked at some sprays that have teflon, but I think the grease will work
better. What a job getting the entire mechanism out! Can't wait to try
and get it all back in. :-)
