As I am working on my headlight motors now, I have noticed that both of the gear housings (both sides of the car) appear to have what looks like slight warpage where the two halves of the gear housing goes together. It is very strange, since both are just alike. It doesn't look like it was made that way, but stranger things have happened. When the housing is screwed together, there is a slight gap in the seam on the side farthest from the motor. Things will still work, but one of the "top hat" bushings is a bit loose in it's slot since the two halves don't snug up. Has anyone else noticed this? Should I try to bend things back or did they come that way from the factory? This must be common, since both of mine (off a 67) are like that, so I wonder what the rebuilders do with it?
