    Dumb Drum Brake Install Question

Installed the front brake shoes, springs and adjusters today on my 63. I bought the kits with the new springs in it, which were exact matches as the old.

For the keeps that hold the shoes in place, there is a sping that's round and even up and down, and then there is one where the bottom coils tighten and it is more pointed on one end. My assumption is that this pointed end goes into the recessed cup that goes through the adjuster and into the shoe to hold the adjuster in place. On the other side, the regular spring goes there with a keeper on top. Or do I have them reversed somehow?

It looks right and everything seems like it will work correctly. However, I have plenty of manuals and pictures but none of the correct position of these springs.

    Thanks

The more pointed end as you say goes on the shoes with out the adjuster and will have a thin washer first then spring then keeper lock cover. The other round even spring goes in the cup where the adjuster is located.

Thanks Roy. Got it backwards. Better now than later though. At least this time it's only a 5 minutes fix.
