I'm trying to help a friend with a '56. Two things have come up. First, the wire harness in the engine bay goes thru the radiator support and to the horns ok, but we can't figure out how to get the wiring to the headlights. The headlights have a short harness that will connect to the front harness correctly , but how do you get the wires through the inner fenders. Should there be holes in the inner fender? If so , where. It doesn't seem right to run the wires under the inner fenders. What IS the routing? Second question. Should the headlight trim rings be chrome or painted. It is a March car if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance. Larry

Re: 56 Questions
Larry, your assumption is actually correct. There should be a number of mounting clips in the front fender well area that hold the front lights etc. wiring harness as it winds toward the bottom of the inner fender area and under it to the clip where the connection is made. If you have a 56-57 Tech. Info. manual and judging guide page 33 shows the approx. placement of the clips on the pass. side. I double checked my 57 and they appear as shown in the manual.
On the issue of the headlight rims the thought is that early 56's up to approx. vin 1360 have chrome bezels overpainted in body color, between 1360 and 1600 there are cars that appear with either body color paint or chrome and after 1600 chrome is the accepted appearance. This information can also be found on page 34 of the manual.- Top
