59 valve stems

corvette central lists long and short valve stems for my 59 i have hub caps with spinners. can someone tell me which ones are correct

Bob,
The '59 judging manual (fourth edition) says (on page 42) that the stems should be 1 1/2 inches long. I presume this means for both 5" and 5 1/2" wheels.

That is not correct for the 5 1/2" wheels. The valve stem for the RPO #276 wheels is 1" long and a larger diameter than the standard wheel.

Bob,

The Corvette Central 'long' stems that I have on my '60 are too long and I've been dinged twice for it. They measure 2" long and they should be 1 1/2". You may wish to talk to someone before you order to assure you get what you want.

The "long" CC stems are also too large in diameter to fit through the valve stem hole in a '57 wheel cover - I finally found the right length/diameter stems at a local tire shop.
