I'm ready to fire up my freshly rebuilt 327 and as I was filling it with antifreeze I noticed a steady drip of antifreeze coming from the front two oil pan bolts on the passenger side. I figured it was coming off one of the hoses and running to the block and I was noticing the drips there but the hoses appear to be dry. I even wrapped them tightly in towels to see if the dripping stopped but it didn't seem to slow it down. It seemed to be coming from where the oil pan meets the block at the first bolt and then I noticed a second drip near the next bolt back. I checked these bolts and they're tight with a fresh gasket although I can't imagine it's coming from the bottom of the block. I also don't see anything running down the side of the block from the area of the hoses. Am I missing something? Could I be leaking antifreeze from inside the block and it's running down and escaping at the oil pan?? Are there any other areas where this could be coming from or does it HAVE to be coming from the hoses and is just giving the appearance of coming from the block/oil pan connection? Thanks for any advice.

Re: C2 anti-freeze leak
I had a similar cooland leak that was hard to detect. There would be coolant on the floor under the starter area. I checked hoses, gaskets, etc. as you did. It turned out to be one of the core (freeze) plugs in the block. It was the one hidden from view behind the starter, the rear one on the right side. I drained the block and replaced the plug with ample, non-drying sealant. Check around each freeze plug with a colored paper(shop) towel and look for a wet spot. Hope that helps, good luck...- Top
