    59 fan shroud

    Bob,
I put mine together last week. There are nine tiny clutchhead screws (8-32x 3/8in) with tiny lock washers holding the four pieces of the shroud together. These nine screws are Paragon part # 6471K. The four screws that you referred to that attach the shroud to the frame and are Paragon #3744 are a special 1/4-20x 7/8in with an indented hex head with locking teeth on the built-in washer. Hope this helps.

Bob.....Now I know what you're refering to!....On my '59 crossmember, I too have the two 5/16 threaded holes about 10 3/4 inches apart. On my center lower shroud...I have no holes! But the '59 AIM fan shroud drawing definately shows the screw, washer, shim and the glue to hold the shim in place. Its amazing how many times I've looked at this drawing but never saw it!

The bottom line is.....we should defer to some other C1 expert out there in cyberland.

Bob and Brad, Yes you should have 2 bolts in the lower center shroud. I believe they were an indented head with washer alredy attached. Similar to the bolts found holding the radiator support in.

            Re: 59 fan shroud "Brad"

Brad ! In 1955 and early 56 the lower "FOUR" piece shroud which vary few people know about didn't have the two holes your talking about. BUT two little holes forward of the bottom piece using two clutch head screws that supported the "FOURTH" metal piece that was also screwed to the lower Radiator shroud . All to gather there was "FIVE" metal pieces for the radiator shroud.in 55 and 56. But later 56 till 59 the same shroud was used but it now consisted of "FOUR" pieces with the lower piece still showing the two little forward holes( not used any more) and now also the two large holes your talking about., bolted to the cross member.
I think G.M used up the early type shrouds till they ran out , so you may not see it bolted to the member or your's, or was replaced with the early repro's.
It is vary rare to see the front lower #5 shroud piece on a restored 55-56 Corvette because it's not repro'ed and not judged, and only a few people know about it.
Seems no one ever ask about the "TWO" little hole tho!!
I would take a pic. of it on my 55 , but is so daing hard to see>
