Need Help WIth 67 Console Color

I am restoring a 67 White/Blue interior roadster. I started with an original interior car but it was worn and faded. The original console appeared to be a lighter shade of blue than the rest of the trim, dash and carpet. Almost a nassau blue instead of the medium bright blue on 67's. What is correct? I had it painted by a local expert on corvette interiors but it looks too light blue to me. He thought that 67's were the same as 65-66 nassau blue interiors. It doesn't match the carpet, dash or the trim. HELP!!!!

    Thanks,
    Jace Holt

    Jace,
I have a 67 Marina Blue coupe with the same color interior. My car was improperly stored in a muddly field near Riverside, Ca for 12 years. It has, however, never been taken apart or stripped of originality. I threw out the original, white door panels and that was it. I'll try to take some pictures tomorrow morning, but I have had problems downloading. My center console is the same bright blue as the center dash near the clock and the dash pads.

Re: Need Help WIth 67 Console Color

      Jace & Justin,

The bright blue carpet sold by most vendors is incorrect in color being too bright (silvery) blue. Only ACC has the correct 'medium' blue for '67 white/blue interiors. Now, you ask why did I start with the carpet?

The instrument panel and center console should nearly match the carpet color. The paint formula for '67 instrument panel & console that we used when restoring my '67 was either mixed per the formula or something went awry causing it to be darker than the original color.

When purchased from the 3rd owner, my '67 had only the convertible top, standard wearable maintenance items (belts, hoses & tires) and one engine head replaced; everything else was as factory assembled. We retained the original door panels, seat covers and carpet for reference purposes.

      Hope this helps.

I have the same combination; the dash panel and pads have been re-done, but the console is original, and matches the dash panel (yeah, the teak wheel is incorrect, but I like it)

          Kent,

I bought my carpet from ACC as well. Thanks for the advise. I will match the Dash.

            Justin,

I would like to see a picture of your console. I did not take a close up picture of mine before I had it repainted. (Probably the only part on the car that I didn't take a picture of). My car sat in a garage in Portland, Oregon for 20 years and never moved. It was totally original but faded, stinky and in need of restoration. I was able to restore the original White door panels as they were in pretty good shape. But the original carpet had to go.

            Thanks for the response.

              Jace,
sorry about the delay, but I had to drive up to Thousand Oaks to shoot the pictures, 20 minutes away. Here is a picture of my console. No member of Bubba's family has ever layed a finger on this wretched beast. Although, It has been severly neglected. I pulled off the original shocks, rotors, u-joints, and the tranny had never been opened up, which leads me to believe it's all there and untouched. Check out the photo. Good luck!

              Justin

                Thanks Justin

                Justin,

Thanks for taking the time to shoot the picture for me. I can sse now that I need to repaint it. I have been working on this car for 1.5 years now and it is nearing completion. I sarted with a very original car as well. Origianl factory side pipes went back on it along with the original 327/350 HP motor. I think that the color combination of our cars were the best availabe for any mid year. Who needs a red corvette anyway?????

                Thanks again!
