    Big Block Cooling system capacity

The owners manual states 22 for the L68 with heater. Is that 22 quarts or pints?

I removed the radiator and replaced the core. How much coolent does the heater and engine retain?

Dick, I just put about 22 quarts in the same engine, heater combination.

Thanks John. I was sure it was quarts but I just wanted to verify it so I can get a good 50-50 mix on the anti freeze.

Best way to get a 50/50 mix for any size (known or not) is to mix the coolant and water before you put it in. I also always keep a 50/50 mix on hand to add coolant as needed. It's such a good idea they are now selling 50/50 mix in gallon jugs. Of course with the pre-mixed, the water is going to cost a lot more than if you mix it yourself. Jim
