A few weeks ago I requested information regarding an oil pan for a 67 327/350hp engine. A replacement part #360866 was recommended however, today I found out that this part has been discontinued. ZIP and Long Island Corvette supply do not have this item. does anyone have any alternate sources?

Re: 67 - Oil Pan
Hi Mr. Fravert!
A few other alternative sources:
See if your GM dealer can search the old stock inventory. Sometimes one of these can be found collecting dust on a shelf somewhere. I found a convertible upper header molding this way.
Failing this, I have had good experience with Corvette Central or Ecklers. You may be able to locate a good used pan (inspect for dings, warped mounting flanges, or stripped oil bolt threads). Do you recieve the Driveline? Any local shops? I replaced my pan about one year ago because I finally overtightened the tired threads (gulp - I confess I tossed the old one - would have just sent it to you!) The final source for all discontinued Corvette parts is JT Piper; they probably will have it but be ready for a kingly ransom.
Good luck!

Re: 67 - Oil Pan
Craig----
I was unaware that this part had been discontinued. However, I just checked and you're right; it has been. The reason that I was surprised was I just bought 2 of them for my collection a few months ago and I ordered them out of GM warehouse stock, not dealer stock (sorry, I don't want to sell them; I don't sell parts). Apparently, they've been discontinued very recently.
Worse news is that I've checked a variety of "reliable" sources and it seems that the supply of these oil pans has "dried up"; I could find none anywhere. This leaves you with 3 options: first, you could try to locate an NOS example. I'm sure that there are some around, but you'll probably pay dearly for it. You could try Ecklers, Paragon, or, the "court of last resort", JT Piper's in Vermillion, IL. Second, you could look for a good, used example. This part shouldn't be too hard to find, but a good, straight one might. Try Pacific Corvette in Puyallup, WA; Paragon Vintage; Tracy Performance; Contemporary Corvette. Third, you could use the 75+ pan as a functional replacement until someone comes on the market with a repro( which probably won't take long). The 75+ pans, GM# 465221 or 465220, are of a different external configuration, but will bolt right on and function perfectly. Both pans have nearly identical external configuration, but the 465220 is the high-performance pan with special internal baffling and is used with baffle GM #3927136. This set-up is widely regarded as the best that GM ever installed on a small block. Either pan will fit your engine whether or not you have power steering and/or hydraulic dampner. You will, however, have to change your oil dipstick( GM #3951576), upper dipstick tube (GM # 3876870) and oil pump pick-up (GM #3855152).In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
