    Dealer Records

I just bought a 66 convertible with a dealer emblem attached to body next to the tail lights. The dealer is Daniel's Chevrolet, Colorado Springs, and is still in business. No other history came with the car other than the barn and the tornado story, but I'll save that for another day...

Does anyone have a contact in Colorado Springs who is associated with this dealer or the local Corvette clubs? I would be interested to get some dealer data on the car.

    Thanks,

        Mark,
Just contact the dealer direct. But they may not be of help. I know the dealer where my '73 came from and I contacted them direct but they did not have any records. Apparently they only held records for about ten years. Guess the retention time frame will depend upon state law. But don't think many will keep records past about 15 years, a few will, but not many.

Hi Mark, I sold Corvettes at Palmyra Motors Inc. Dealer Code 12-500 in Palmyra, New York back in the 70's. GMAC Held the paper at the Dealer and they had a record and copy of every invoice of all our cars. GMAC keep better records than most dealers, so try the local GMAC branch in Colorado Spring. They might still have the original records for Daniels Chevrolet in Colorado Springs.Good Luck with your 66, Save the Wave . Happy Hunting.>George

Back in the 1960's Daniel's Chevrolet always had a large lot full of Corvettes in the late spring, just in time for Air Force Academy graduation.

Could your 66 possibly be one of those cars?

              Re: Dealer Records

The seller told me he bought it from an Air Force family. The car was purchased in Colorado, relocated to Tennessee, suffered storm damage, sold to a Tennessee horse rancher who moved it to Stockton, CA, where I bought it. It's very possible that the car was part of the dealer's "graduation" inventory.

Thanks to all who posted and emailed. I have some great contacts from which to draw upon while researching the car's history.

Mark: This bit of information isn't going to help your search as it is just a coincidence that I also have a Daniels Vette. I just assumed the dealership would have been gone long ago. Any way my vette is a 73 convertible purchased May 12, 1973 as indicated on the warranty. So your post becomes interesting to me as well. Gopod luck in your search. tom

                  Mark,
Try calling Randy Hamlett, who owns Yesterday's Corvette Co in Colo. Spgs. Number is 719-570-9011. Randy has lived there many years, and may have some helpful ideas. He knows the area. Best...Dave
